FBC Alive!

Dear Friends---

A few Sundays ago, I had a visiting parent with two young children in tow ask me a very important question! “Pastor Tim, do you believe you can loose your salvation?”  WOW---what a great question! I had no problem stating unequivocally “NO!”  This parent further replied that they were looking for a church that lined up with the truth taught in Scripture about this non-negotiable truth called ‘eternal security of the believer!’ So, what do I base my response to this parent on? The Bible points to three seals. The first can be found in Ephesians 1:13-14, which clearly says that the God-revealed gospel of Jesus must first be heard, and believed to bring salvation from sin. When this occurs, God’s own Spirit---which first draws people to Jesus---comes and lives in them and ‘seals’ all those who believe with all their heart that Jesus has earned their eternal salvation through His crucifixion on the cross and resurrection from the grave! The next ‘seal’ is found from the very words of Christ in John 10: 27-28. If you have accepted Jesus into your heart and you believe the words that you read each time you open up God’s Word, the Bible—if you believe that it is truth, you must believe Jesus when He says that, “I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” This is for all of us who believe that Jesus is our Savior and Lord. All who are striving to live an obedient life out of love and adoration for what He did for us on the cross. This is for ALL of us who are HIS sheep! There can be NO mistake about what He is saying! The third seal is found in John 10:29. It’s as if Jesus knew some would need more, as if He knew men and Satan would try to rob us of the joy of eternal security by having us walk the edge of a ‘tight- rope’ they’ve created so we will fall into submission and throw up your hands thinking you can NEVER have this security.  Not only does Jesus say you are secure in His hand …. BUT… you are doubly secure in the Father’s hand! We are drawn to Jesus by the Holy Spirit that seals and secures us when we hear the gospel and believe it. Our salvation is authenticated by hearing Christ’s call upon our heart through His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave for our sins. This proves His ownership of us and permanently imprints His love upon our very heart and soul. Jesus makes this claim under the authority of the Father. He and the Father are one! Finally, Romans 8:38-39 states, “I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  If you are looking for a Bible believing church that is striving to be obedient servants of Christ-----
